Happy birthday to Maria Sibylla Merian. Don't know who she is? I didn't either until I saw Google's Doodle.
"The life of Maria Sibylla Merian, a 17th century German-born naturalist, entomologist, botanical illustrator, and divorced mother of two, paints a vivid picture for today’s parents on how to get kids into science using art," according to the Christian Science Monitor.
Some of her pictures are vibrant and colorful, just like her natural subjects. Nice.
